A short drive from Québec City, Mont Sainte Anne reflects the spirit and French attitude and energy that makes Québec City so mindblowingly awesome. With a lot of runs and a good lift system, coupled with reasonable crowds, you can log one mean day of skiing. Ste. Anne is cruise central and a great mountain to get your groove on.
Known for getting its fair share of snow, you can often encounter some powder. Otherwise, the conditions are very reliable. An extremely accessible hill, intermediates can ski front and backsides stopping only for a little poutine and wine for lunch. Or even better, hitting up the maple syrup stand where the famous tree candy is poured hot over snow and once it cools, wrapped onto a stick to consume like a lollipop.
Spring skiing at Ste. Anne is all the rage as the snow gets nice and soft and the hill stays open till late in the season. There’s nothing quite like run after run of cruising on soft spring slush.
And, of course, the crème-de-la-crème, Ste. Anne is ride beside Québec City. You can stay in the city and make you way to the ski hill if you would rather check out this incredible town than hang at the mountain. Québec City is extremely welcoming and you can explore the cobble stone streets, stopping in on a few of the cute shops and grabbing a dinner of crepes and beer or French cuisine and fine wine.
Be sure to save enough energy to check out Chez Dagobert, a nightclub with several floors, you can really get your drink on and party like a true Queer.
There are many sweet hotels to choose from and of course the famous Chateau Frontenac overlooking the city.
For a taste of Québec and a healthy helping of skiing (without crazy crowds or much English influence at all), pucker up to Mont Ste. Anne. She’ll smooch you back, French style.
