When you need a skiing fix to tide you over

A trip to Blue Mountain is kind of like a trip to the mall. You know it’s going to be filled with people, mainly teenagers. You know that you’ll have to fight through the crowds and the best spots will be jammed packed. You know there are some things that you want and you hope to find them, but you wonder sometimes if the hassle is worth it. If you love skiing, just like if you really need toilet paper, you will eventually have to make the trip, and just as you can always find something you like at the mall, so be said about Blue Mountain.

Blue Mountain is less a ski destination and more of a best-case scenario for mountain deficient Southern Ontario. For Torontonians, really, it’s one of the only scenarios since many of the ski hills in the area are private (yes private). But despite the crowds and relatively horizontal runs, Blue Mountain is fun. You can zip around many trails, head into a jump zone, play in little paths carved out in the trees and pretty much enjoy being outdoors in the snowy hills.

The best thing about Blue Mountain however is the village. It has all the good stuff. Lots of fun restaurants, great bars, really fab little shops for cool house stuff, antiques, and Christmas ornaments, and in addition to all that - a very lively, upbeat vibe.

Hey, if you have to live far from skiing in Toronto, why not make the best of it at Blue? That’s the prevailing attitude and it succeeds in making you feel like you could be at a huge mountain because the amenities trick you into thinking that you are.

Originally hum bug about even going, I had a great time on and off the slopes. Blue Mountain would be a great destination resort for beginner skiers who want everything within walking distance. Like picking up all you need in one place at the mall, you could easily hit the spa, shops, great restaurants, skating rink, and any range of pubs at Blue Mountain while taking a few lessons to get your ski on.

And just as when you leave the mall, you are thankful that you got everything you needed in one place and so you’ll be good for a while, Blue Mountain will give you your skiing and affiliated winter activities fix until the next time you need to refuel.
