Les Diablerets is all about the glacier. At 3000m it demands attention. And after you’ve ridden some incredibly intense and high lifts up to her door, you will be greeted by Swiss Alps in every direction, green valleys far below, and snow capped peaks and rocky rugged ridges that fill your eyes with candy. It takes your breath away.
From October to May you can ski up here. It’s the go-to place when everywhere else is closed. While the height of it all may be overwhelming, the slopes are not. There’s a lot of terrain but most of it falls into the cruising category.
Bring your camera and your appetite and have lunch at the Restaurant Botta situated on the top of the glacier providing you with a lunchtime view rivaled by few others.
This French area of Switzerland is famous for its raclette. Who doesn’t love hot melted cheese dribbled over dried meet and warm baby potatoes.
A new toy recently introduced on the mountain allows you to plummet from the top down to the valley via alpine bobsled. Secured onto a track, you can ride a go-cart like sled at speeds up to 40 km/h.
Les Diablerets is only a few hours by train from Geneva and is situated near Leysin and Villars. You could easily tour all three mountains and even head on to Verbier for a little tango with some tough terrain. The whole region is mind-blowingly beautiful. The warm Swiss French hospitality and comfort food keep your belly full and your spirits high.
