Could the view from the top of Cypress be any more amazing?
A snowball throw from Vancouver, you can take city transit to Cypress. A perfect place for a day of escape skiing from the big city, Cypress actually has more than you would expect for a mountain still inside city limits.
There are some nice trees and steeps that are almost always covered in something not quite powder and not quite rain. It’s a heavy, heavy kind of snow that is still full of the water it had hoped to freeze to death. But one can ride high on this powder, harnessing water skiing skills and persevering.
It is definitely worth a trip to Cypress to take in the vistas while you are skiing. Head to the new lodge for a beer and a burger and reflect on what a beautiful city Vancouver really is.
Cypress is also going to be a big part of the up-coming Vancouver Olympics, hosting freestyle and snowboarding events. What a backdrop!
